Allen & York Successfully Recruit a Planning Manager for Fenland District Council

  

Client/Role Profile

Fenland District Council provides a broad range of local services to improve the quality of life in and around the Cambridgeshire market towns of Chatteris, March, Whittlesey and Wisbech. The Council recently gained an 'excellent' assessment from the audit commission and is also the 'most improved' Council in terms of BVPIs according to the Audit Commission.

Allen & York are market leading Town Planning Recruiters and consequently the Planning Manager at Fenland DC contacted our specialist Planning Team to assist in finding a new Senior Planner to join a new team and assist with a growing workload. Fenland had already advertised the role numerous times with no response, they had also employed a non-specialist headhunting firm to find a suitable candidate for the position – with no success.

The Service

After careful thought regarding the various services that Allen & York can provide, including Executive Search, Managed Advertising and Database Search. . It was agreed that the most appropriate service to fill this position was an in depth Senior Search within the area, alongside using our Planning Team's extensive network of contacts.

This option utilised Allen & York's relationship with various senior individuals within the market to give the best possible coverage and opportunity to reach very relevant candidates.
Through this well established network, Allen and York were able to quickly identify those with a proven development control track record, of not only managing a caseload of applications, but delivering upon this to timescales.

The Result

The most appropriate candidates were presented to Fenland District Council and interviews arranged.From the individuals interviewed the outstanding candidate, which we had recommended strongly from the outset, was offered the position.
