RenewableUK the UK's leading voice on Wind and Marine Renewable Energy generation, is highlighting new official statistics from the National Grid which show that record amounts of clean electricity were generated by wind power in 2014.

“Wind generated enough electricity to supply the needs of more than 6.7 million UK households last year; a 15% increase on the amount generated in 2013 - just over 25% of all UK homes all year round.”

This can only be positive news for Energy professionals looking for career moves within the renewable energy sector.

RenewableUK’s Deputy Chief Executive Maf Smith said: “It’s great to start 2015 with some good news about the massive quantities of clean electricity we’re now generating from wind, with new records being set month after month, as we increase our capacity to harness one of Britain’s best natural resources."

In this General election year Smith stressed that “Onshore wind is the cheapest form of renewable energy we have at our fingertips.  So if we’re serious about cutting bills, and securing an indigenous supply of clean power, all parties need to support it in the months ahead”.

Tom Wolsey, Team Leader Energy Generation at Allen & York comments;  “We have already seen an upturn in recruitment demands from UK renewable energy developers and have started 2015 with two key recruits into an EPC/BoP wind farm construction provider and a leading renewable energy developer.  Engineers from graduate to senior are still very much in demand, as well as experienced business developers, to make the most of this buoyant market.”

If you have experience within Renewable Energy or are looking for a career move into the sector and have strong transferable experience, particularly within engineering, we would like to hear from you.
