The Rail Delivery Group (RDG) will launch a new public information campaign in the Autumn, focused on raising awareness of the growing UK rail infrastructure.
Britain Runs on Rail will highlight the importance of the railways and outline the vital role that rail transportation plays in people’s everyday lives.
- Every day, more than 4.5 million journeys are taken by people as they travel by rail.
- Over the last 25 years, rail use has grown more than any other type of transport in the UK.
- Rail passenger journeys are expected to double again over the next 25 years.
Taxpayers and investors will be told about the industry-wide Railway Upgrade Plan, in which over £50bn is being invested to develop the railways of the future, through a series of adverts, in station posters and a TV campaign planned for 2017.
Rail Staff magazine are running a competition ahead of the campaign launch, to complete the phrase; “Britain Runs on Rail because……..” The competition is free to enter and the winner will receive two return Eurostar tickets to Paris, plus return tickets to London St Pancras.
