Associate Director Town Planner

Our client is an award winning consultancy with an excellent reputation for their commitment to staff training and development. One of the UK's largest engineering and environmental consultancies, they are seeking a high calibre, commercially minded professional to lead their planning business in Manchester and the North West.This is an exciting and challenging opportunity and you will be expected to build upon our client's growing reputation in the region in both the public and private sector. Their client base includes Regional Assemblies, Regional Development Agencies and organisations such as English Partnerships, various local authorities and several of the country's most prestigious companies. They also have a growing client base with local developers in Manchester in both planning and EIA.Coming from either the public or private sector the successful candidate is likely to have a background in one or more of the following fields:
• commercial property
• regeneration
• economic development
• housing
• development planning
• environmental planning
• planning policy
• sustainable development.
Whatever your background you will have the ability to hit the ground running combined with the flair and personality to lead.Candidates should have the skills and knowledge required to undertake this role successfully and ideally this experience should include work in the regeneration or property sectors. Candidates with local authority experience will also be considered capable of building on our skills in SEA, urban capacity studies and LDF support. Candidates with less experience would be considered for the role of Principal Consultant.The successful candidate will be customer focused, a good team worker and communicator and prepared to be flexible. You will also hold a first degree in a relevant field with a second degree being highly desirable.In particular our clients will be looking for candidates with demonstrable experience of Project Management; Project Delivery; Technical Direction; Product/Service Development; Staff Management; Sector/Business Development.Candidates will be expected to be MRTPI and to have a valid UK driving licence.
