Building Surveyor

An opportunity has arisen for a Building Surveyor to join a developing team at their Colchester offices.

The right candidate will take on a challenging client facing role that will involve sound project management and professional surveying skills working on a variety of buildings for both Blue Chip and Public Sector clients to provide all core Building Surveying services.

The role offers excellent prospects for career progression together with training and experience for individuals to fully develop their potential including obtaining professional qualifications.

Full support will be given towards achieving RICS APC.

Responsibilities
> Carrying out a portfolio of fee based Building Surveying activities for multiple clients with direct client interface
> Assist in the management of project finances from inception through to completion
> Assist with the development of Client relationships
> Fulfilling all Atkins and Client QA procedures
> Obtaining statutory approvals
> Production of drawings, specifications and tender documents obtaining tenders and quotations, tender adjudication and analysis
> Full Project Management / Contract Administration of projects through to completion
> Survey and report writing for the full range of typical core Building Surveying services
> Assisting with the appointing, coordinating and managing other consultants and contractors, both internally and externally

Mainly:
> Dealing with building repairs for all property types
> Alterations, refurbishments, extensions and new build projects
> Defect diagnosis and analysis
> Condition and detailed building surveys (some dilapidation and party wall work)
> Planned maintenance and minor repairs

Requirements
> BSc in Building Surveying or equivalent.
> Working towards membership of RICS preferred but not essential.
> Used to working for varied and multiple clients on a consultancy basis.
> Strong customer focus.
> Good organisational and management skills with the ability to motivate others and to work well under pressure.
> Sound business acumen.
> Excellent communication and presentation skills.
> High level of all round IT capability with previous use of CAD and NBS software desirable.
> Current, full clean driving licence.
> Good report and specification writing skills and project management skills.
> Thorough knowledge of survey methods and sound knowledge of construction.
> Basic knowledge of building services.
