Our client requires a Principal/Associate Heritage Consultant to lead the heritage team and be responsible for development of heritage work. This position is based in their offices in Cambridge.

Responsibilities include undertaking Conservation Area Appraisals, historic building assessments; prepare listed building, conservation area and planning applications; and other related conservation and heritage studies.

Undertake planning appeals, including preparation of evidence and acting as expert witness if required. Liaise and negotiate with building owners, architects, agents, developers, local authorities and others as necessary to seek the most appropriate solution to meet a client's needs.

The right candidate will have held a heritage position at team leader/principal level in either local government or consultancy, an in-depth knowledge of the UK planning system and guidance as applied to historic buildings and areas and a detailed knowledge of conservation techniques and familiarity with urban design.

Also; Visual awareness and a specialist knowledge of architecture and building construction of all periods and an understanding of project management, QA and line management.

Qualifications required:
First degree in Planning, building conservation or architecture.
Membership of RTPI and/or IHBC
