Our client's are looking for an Urban Designer to be involved on a range of projects from conception through to implementation. You will have the understanding and skills to produce well thought out designs that create sustainable and quality places. This position is based in Edinburgh.Your duties and responsibilities include:
> Conducting preliminary studies of the site such as the constraints and opportunities
> Carrying out townscape analysis of the site context, including historical development, urban morphology, figure ground, urban design analysis and density
> Conducting a contextual analysis of the existing services and facilities within the site context
> Assessing a site’s potential to meet the clients specifications
> Matching the client wishes with your knowledge of what will work best
> Developing appropriate and sensitive conceptual master plans which take into consideration the site and context analysis as well as landscape and visual impacts
> Developing master plans at a detailed level
> Preparing supporting plans such as area plans, phasing and detail block layouts as well as presentation material
> Assisting in the production of reports (written and drawing material), including Design and Access Statements, Development Briefs, Design Guides and Design CodesEssential candidate qualities:
> Qualified and have a degree or post graduate qualification in Urban Design
> Excellent design/drawing skills
> Good communication skills, both written and oral
> Good graphic and presentation skills
> Creative ability, imagination and enthusiasm
