Job Title: Landfill Site Manager

Job purpose:

To act as Landfill Site Manager in ensuring the effective management of the landfill site to the standards of Company policies, Health and Safety requirements and in accordance with the PPC Permit and associated documents

Business Performance
Achieve budgeted profit & safety targets at depot / regional level.

Key Tasks
Provide clear and accurate records and reporting of site inputs/income and expenditure. Ensure achievement of budgeted KPI’s, including EBIT, and expenditure. Implement and manage quality and environment management systems and ensure their observance by company staff. Have in place Health and Safety plans and procedures and ensure compliance by all those who use or visit the site.

Key Performance Indicators:
Reduction in RIDDOR’s and LTI’s.
Achievement of budgeted EBIT, revenue and expenditure at the site.
Reduction in non-conformances and/or observations arising from internal/external EMS audits and Health and Safety inspections.

Customers
Focused Customer Service
Key Tasks
Provide a quality service to customers. Maintain dialogue with customers regarding Health and Safety, waste acceptance and operational issues which may affect their business with the site.
Ensure prompt resolution of customer enquiries and complaints.
Plan seasonal operational phases based around waste types, vehicle movements and weather conditions to ensure efficient turn round of waste deliveries

Key Performance Indicators
Reduction in customer complaints.
Reduction in turn around times.
No lost customers due to poor site conditions.

People
Lead and develop effective teams

Key Tasks
Work effectively as a team member
Manage and develop all direct reports.
Identify and agree staff training requirements. Develop and implement training plans.


Key Performance Indicators
Maintain up to date development plans for all direct employees.
Ensure induction and ongoing training assessment for all permanent and temporary employees.
Ensure Contractors’ Certificates and insurance documentation is complete and current.


Processes
Improve Operational KPIs

Key Tasks

• Introduce, monitor and maintain quality and environmental management procedures.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements at the site and on vehicles using the facility.
• Be responsible for the development of technologies at the site.
• Be responsible for the development of site infrastructure and the selection of plant and equipment.
• Act as the Technically Competent Person in respect of Permitted facilities as required.
• Plan water, leachate and gas management at the site.
• Plan interactions with other stakeholders i.e. community groups, EA and local authorities.
• Liaise with EA, Planning and Environment Health Authorities on the day to day operation of the site.
• Have in place Health and Safety plans and procedures designed to protect on-site personnel, visitors and contractors and take into consideration trespassers, so far as is practicable and reasonable.

Key Performance Indicators
Internal and external audit actions completed.
Health and Safety audit actions and recommendations completed.
Accidents/incidents reported and investigated. Site instructions issued and procedures modified where necessary.

Proactive in approach to operational standards.
