Town Planning Consultants

Our client has an extensive range of planning staff throughout their offices across the UK. Within one of their offices in the north of England they are looking to expand and develop their town planning service for clients in the North East, Cumbria and Scotland.The role will involve some travel to other offices within (and potentially without) the region.In this role you will provide planning consultancy services for a range of public and private sector clients. Responsibilities include:
- Processing of planning and other related applications
- Formulation of planning policy
- Preparation of reports and recommendations as part of the service to local authorities
- Supporting and liaising with Senior/Principal Planning Consultants and the Town Planning Associate to ensure planning duties are carried out efficiently and effectively
- Preparing and presenting evidence, acting as an expert witness as necessary in respect of planning appeals
- Planning consultancy work in accordance with the client’s brief
- Contributing towards business development and securing of new business where appropriateThe successful candidate will be/have:
- Relevant planning qualification (degree or equivalent work experience)
- Relevant development control experience and a sound understanding of the planning process gained in either the English/Welsh or Scottish planning systems.
- Ability to manage and prioritise own workload and work with limited supervision
- Ability to develop good working relationships with clients and colleagues
- Full Driving licenceIdeally they will also be/have:
- Member of the RTPI
- Relevant experience of planning policy formulation.Good communication skills, excellent customer care approach, flexibility and a willingness to get involved in business development and service improvement where appropriate and a pro-active approach to personal development.
