Industrial Symbiosis is a pioneering sustainable development initiative that engages traditionally separate industries and other organisations in create a collective approach involving physical exchange of materials, energy, water and / or by-products together with the shared use of assets, logistics and expertise. This results in significant environmental benefits and economic advantage.

NISP is the world's first ever example of an industrial symbiosis programme deployed on a national scale. The programme is delivered through distinct regional teams of practitioners. The programme has been particularly successful in assisting projects in the construction sector.

The role of the Practitioner is to aid the Regional Coordinator in the delivery of NISP regional resource efficiency ‘synergy' projects as required to meet the contracted environmental targets.

Based in the London, this position requires experience in the Construction and Utilities sector. The main responsibilities include assisting in delivering NISP by supporting regional workshops and other events, networking opportunities, member company recruitment and training activities. You will be required to deliver synergies identified through events and processes and targeted sector-based research, with reference to a quarterly updated Regional Action Plan. Supporting the Regional Coordinator, to develop and maintain information data bases including the regional NISP synergy grid and the NISP National Database CRISP.

Applicants should have significant experience in either environmental consultancy or industry and commerce. Experience in resource efficiency, business processes or commercial management is essential. Strong regional networks with industry, commerce and business support agencies would be a distinct advantage. A degree along with appropriate professional memberships is desired.
