Our client is a leading global engineering, consulting and construction company. They are currently seeking Project Engineers to provide high quality advice to clients through effective project engineering through the consultancy organisation and resources of the parent company.

The nature of the projects are mostly advisory, with clients including developers, plant operators and banks but may also include design, design review and construction supervision

Act as adviser relating to the building of new or the purchase, extension or improvement of existing power plants. This will involve the evaluation and optimisation of the proposals of others or proposing the basic design parameters form new and revised plants.

Specification preparation, report writing and technical evaluation of bids are also features of the job and hence computer literacy particularly for word processing and spreadsheet packages is essential

Some international travel will be necessary from time to time, depending on the location of projects, with the opportunity for negotiations with customers and contractors and hence cultural awareness is necessary

Education / Experience

A BSc in Engineering or BEng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent is essential)
Member of IMechE/IET (desirable)

Experience in electrical power generation is essential
Experience with an original equipment manufacturer or international power consultancy (desirable)

Strong knowledge and experience in Power Generation is essential. Particularly two or more of the following:

Boilers, fuelled by coal, oil, biomass and or gas

Heat recovery steam generators

Steam turbines

Gas turbines in simple style, cogeneration or combined cycle configurations

Power station electrical auxiliary systems

Generators and motors

Transformers

Switchgear

Power and Auxiliary cables

Good understanding of other disciplines (Civil and Control) will be an advantage

Appreciation of environmental requirements (desirable)
