Our client is a leading global engineering, consulting and construction company. They are currently seeking Project Manager to strengthen the Energy division based in the South East.
Key Responsibilities
To primarily undertake the position of project manager but would provide a support role as project engineer and/or mechanical engineer in various projects and will be required to liaise with clients on the technical and commercial aspects of projects.
To obtain new work through new or existing clients. This would be achieved as follow on work as a result of excellence and also through client networking.
The preparation and submission of winning proposals.
Specification preparation, report writing and technical evaluation of bids.
Liaison with internal departments globally to obtain necessary expertise and resource support.
The nature of the projects are mostly advisory, with clients including developers, plant operators, banks, but may also include design, design review and construction supervision.
Some international travel will be necessary from time to time, depending on the location of projects, with the opportunity for negotiations with customers and their contractors. Cultural awareness is essential.
Qualifications and Training
The successful candidate will be qualified to a minimum level of BSc/BEng degree or equivalent in a mechanical discipline and should preferably be a member of IMechE.
Background and Experience
A background in power generation is essential. Ideally this experience should have been gained with an original equipment manufacturer or an international power consultancy.
Project management experience of power related projects is essential.
Knowledge Base
In addition to strong experience in power generation, the candidate will have knowledge and design capability of two or more of the following technologies; boilers, fuelled by coal, oil, biomass and/or gas; heat recovery steam generators; steam turbines; gas turbines in simple cycle, co generation or combined cycle configurations. A balance of plant associated with electricity generation is preferred.
Skills
Computer literacy. The applicant shall be competent in the following packages; MS Windows and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); MS Project. AutoCAD or other CAD packages will be an advantage.
