Our client is an international practice of multidisciplinary consulting engineers with a worldwide reputation for sustainability, innovation and quality.
Currently, they are expanding the capability of their Berlin team and have an immediate need for a sustainability consultant to provide sustainability advice on both internal and external projects and to develop a team providing expert advice within the Central European region. You would liaise with their sustainable and alternative technology team based in the UK as required. The consultants offer expert strategic advice on energy planning and policy, regulatory requirements, energy procurement, alternative energy options, meeting sustainability targets and BREEAM assessments. Our client believes in a holistic approach to carbon mitigation based on passive environmental design, energy saving building services and Low and Zero Carbon energy sources. The Berlin office acts as the hub for their work in Central Europe. The role is based in Berlin, but travel to other offices is expected as required.The role will involve providing sustainability advice on new and existing buildings in collaboration with developers, architects and design teams. Coordinating his / her work with other members of the project team.
Maintaining and developing relationships with external bodies and Clients.
New business development / marketing.
Maintaining an informed position on all projects within the group.
Preparing technical reports.
Undertaking BREEAM Assessments as required.
Renewable energy studies and calculations / load profiling of buildings.
Develop sustainable design concepts
Sustainability master planning
Produce sustainability statements and planning reports
Analysis and monitoring of the CE energy market.
Renewable energy grant applications.
Research into new and emerging technologies.
Maintain project design files to a high standard.
Continually ensuring that practices, policies, strategy and services represent the clients and our client's best interests and that our client's policy is in keeping with current legislation.Essential Requirements:The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills or experience: Degree in engineering/ building physics/ architecture or in a sustainability/ environmental related subject
At least 4-5 years experience working in the built environment on a range of projects
Experience of assessing buildings in relation to energy and sustainability and in providing sustainability design advice
Good IT skills
Good written and spoken English and German
Good communication skills, dealing with other employees and external clients
Confident, proactive character, ability to take the lead in challenging situations
Have a flexible approach and be a team player
Be enthusiastic about learning new skills and developing their knowledge in the field
Ability to co-ordinate with the other disciplines within the practice to produce design solutions for clients
Commitment to CPD and self learning / developmentDesirable Licensed BREEAM Assessor or equivalent environmental appraisal scheme.
