Our client is responding to the increased interest in energy arising from climate change concerns and rising fuel costs by expanding our capabilities in these areas.

The principal function of this position is to undertake a senior role within our clients energy projects team, providing technical advisor, study services, feasibility services, design and project management services to our clients. This level will involve managing commissions; providing specialist input to projects and co-ordinating inputs from other specialists; and providing expertise to take projects from inception through to successful completion.

Key areas of responsibility will comprise:

• developing and executing projects in the energy sector
• project management of energy projects, co-ordinating specialist input, and managing delivery of the project to quality, time, and cost
• liaison and communication with clients
• developing the team capability to provide a wide range of energy-related services
• working with other specialists in Halcrow to enhance the range of services offered to clients

Specific responsibilities will include some or all of the following:

• working with other team members, or leading them where appropriate, to plan, manage and execute commissions from clients
• maintaining skills and developing new skills and knowledge within the team to be able to provide leading edge advice and services to clients
• developing project ideas, preparation of bids and proposals for work
• supporting business development activities in the energy sector, providing technical expertise in own specialist areas to Halcrow project and business development teams world-wide

The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:

• extensive experience in energy studies (technical and policy) and demonstration or commercial implementation projects including at least some of renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy management and energy in processes or buildings
• project engineering or management experience involving quality, cost and time management
• ability to develop project briefs in response to client needs and prepare present proposals
• experience in preparing reports and making presentations
• flexibility to work on a range of projects at different stages, team working skills and commitment to development of the team
