Regional Ecologist

Following a restructure within a leading environmental consultancy a position has arisen for a Regional Ecologist based out of Oxfordshire.The post has been created to lead a regional team of ecologists and to deliver consultancy work on time and within budget to a range of clients.The key responsibilities for the role will include:
• Set and maintain technical standards for team, providing quality control and monitoring of delivered work e.g. field work and reports. Use professional body (e.g. IEEM) to ensure standards are appropriate
• Liaise with Resource Manager to ensure timely and efficient delivery of ecological services
• Train, coach and mentor consultants in team over a wide range of technical areas, identifying training needs and training solutions, in conjunction with line manager. Use professional body
• Lead demanding commercial ecology contracts, finding acceptable solutions for clients that meet the needs of the client and the regulator. Ensure that team members are providing solutions too, not presenting problems to be solved.
• Carry out fieldwork as appropriate on demanding sites, ranging from extended Phase 1 surveys to more specialist work for example protected species surveys, National Vegetation Classification etc.
• Develop and maintain high level good relations with the regulatory bodies in the region.
• Oversee ecological inputs into Environmental Impact Assessments within the Region
• Carry out sales activities as agreed with Sector Managers, including visiting prospective clients, building good relationships with existing ones through account management, speaking at appropriate conferences, leading and inputting into bids and tenders Candidates should have a good track record as an Ecologist and hold a relevant degree with experience of working in a consultancy environment.
