As a Combustion Engineer you will work within the Combustion and Fuel Technologies Department focusing on the companys innovation, energy technologies, and engineering activities for new build, energy, gas and industrial projects. You will also provide consultancy in fuel selection, minimisation of combustion derived emissions, combustion equipment engineering, boiler firing system optimisation, small-scale combustion testing, particulate removal systems, biofuels and environmental reporting
This role with give you the opportunity to utilise your experience, knowledge and problem-solving skills to provide expert technical support in the area of combustion systems to a range of clients.
You will also
Partake in design related projects including specification and tender assessment.
Visit customer sites to progress work as required around the UK and potentially overseas.
Translate customer requirements into a clear work proposal.
Take ownership of combustion related projects and deliver completed work to time, quality, cost and customer needs.
Contribute to the delivery of Research and Development programmes.
Work with other teams to ensure the best use of skills and resources.
It is expected that you will have a number of years industrial experience and direct experience of at least two of the following:
NOx control by combustion modifications
Combustion diagnosis and optimisation
Pulverised coal, oil or gas burners
Solid fuel pulveriser technology
Large boiler fuel supply systems
Flue gas particulate removal technologies
Fuel quality impact assessment or fuel switching
Large boiler fan, air pre-heater & ductwork systems
Combustion research
In addition you should also hold a degree in an appropriate subject and be able to demonstrate that you:
Have experience of working in industry, ideally in a utility power plant environment
Possess, or are working towards, Chartered Engineer status
Have good analytical and problem solving skills
Are able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Are able to exercise sound professional judgement on technical issues
Have a friendly, open, and professional manner for dealing with customers
