A world leading multi-disciplinary consultancy is looking to strengthen existing teams by the appointment of a number of Corrosion Scientists into their Cheshire and Oxfordshire offices. They are looking for ambitious Scientists to join a world class corrosion research team. their experimental and theoretical research is mainly in support of the nuclear industry. There is a particular emphasis on understanding, predicting and preventing environmentally assisted cracking in safety critical structures. Their corrosion laboratories have an extensive range of modern facilities and their team of scientists and engineers are at the forefront of applied research in this field throughout the world.You will be responsible for the execution of projects involving both experimental and analytical components, responsibilities include: Preparation of commercially-costed proposals, definition of technical work activities, supervision and conduct of research programmes.
Development of novel experimental or analytical techniques.
Presentation of results and conclusions of studies to customers.
Publication of appropriate work at external conferences or in technical journals.
Operation and development of a small team of engineers and scientistsThe successful candidate will have a proven track record in this field combined with a relevant academic qualification. Experience of stress corrosion cracking and/or corrosion fatigue will be particularly advantageous, as would knowledge of monitoring of corrosion or environmentally assisted cracking using remote techniques or electrochemical methods.In return the successful candidate will be rewarded by the chance to work in one of the worlds leading research teams and be offered a highly competitive remuneration package.
