Our client is a leading specialist sustainability/CSR consultancy operating globally. They work closely with corporate businesses in their regions of operation to respond constructively to the challenges of sustainable development.The company are particularly active within several emerging economies throughout the world and are now looking to strengthen their presence in the Indian market. They do not currently have an office base there but are intent on opening an office in India shortly. Consequently, there is an opening for a senior environmental/CSR professional to set up and lead this office. The newly appointed Director will be independently responsible for all aspects of its work in India including setting up the office, recruiting the India team, developing its strategy, developing new business and executing consulting and research work. In addition, they will have the opportunity to participate in the companys contribution to emerging economies and be part of the global management team, contributing to the companys organisational strategy and development.
Significant experience of working within the corporate sector at both strategic and operational levels is essential. Preference will be given to candidates who have a strong knowledge of the Indian corporate and development arena, dealing with the social and environmental impacts of business.Applicants must have: At least ten years of relevant experience with, or within, the corporate sector
Demonstrable understanding of and commitment to addressing the environmental and social impacts of corporate action
Proven abilities as a self-starter, who can start an office, lead and deliver projects at high level
A proven track record of business development and maintaining client relationships including working with senior decision makers in companies.
Ability and willingness to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders holding different and sometimes conflicting views
An advanced degree in business or a field directly relevant to sustainability/corporate responsibility
Experience in managing projects to deadlines
Excellent team worker skills
Excellent written and spoken English
Ability and willingness to travel in India and overseas
