Our clients' are looking for a Senior Development Economist to work in a multi-disciplinary environment interacting with masterplanners and urban designers, transport planners, environmental staff and engineers on high-profile projects that are at the forefront of innovation and good practice. This position is based in their offices in London.The key objectives for this role include:> to deliver and/or project manage economic development studies
> to provide economic development support on projects led by other professionals in the London office and other regional offices
> to help identify, bid for and win economic development work
> to work with existing economic development staff across the UK
> to help develop the market and help build Halcrows economic development capacity
> to work on multi-disciplinary regeneration, development and infrastructure projects.The priorities of this role include:> project delivery / project management
> bid preparation / business developmentThe ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge, from experience in consultancy or government in the field of economic development:> previous consultancy experience and proven track record as an economic development consultant
> good technical skills in respect of our core offer (i.e. Employment land studies, land development studies, Economic Appraisal, Economic Impact, Economic Regeneration and economic advice in support of the wider planning process
> familiarity with the local and regional development market
> ability to communicate clearly, logically, concisely and accurately in writing and to ensure co-ordination of text with graphics
> good numeracy skills, including use of and presentation of key economic data
> sound commercial and financial awareness, e.g. works within the agreed fee structure of projects and understands the importance of delivering projects on time and on budget
> good organisation and project management skills, e.g. able to multi-task, prioritise, manage time, meet deadlines and tie up loose ends
> good interpersonal skills; e.g. relates well to colleagues, clients and business contacts, and can influence to achieve positive results
> initiative, e.g. drives projects forward proactively, makes things happen, has a can do attitude and presents possible solutions to more senior staff
> good at team-working, e.g. shares job and client information as appropriate, supports colleagues, relates well with secretarial and admin staff, contributes to office and firm-wide initiatives, and shows commitment to the goals and values of the firm
> qualified to minimum of degree level or similar (preferably in Economics, Economic Development or similar)
> previous consultancy experience would be advantageous
