A leading power engineering company that has ambitious plans for the expansion of its renewable energy interests, requires a Technical Consultant to join its ever-growing renewables team. Supporting the wind energy work done by the team, you will be gathering, validating and analysing wind resource and other meteorological data. Other responsibles would iclude: Generation of long-term wind resource estimates, with a clear understanding of the underlying methodology, and of the issues associated with this work.
Modelling of the variation of the wind resource over the ground, including sites offshore, and in complex terrain and / or forested areas, using software packages such as WAsP, WindFarmer etc.
Analysis of risk or uncertainty in connection with wind farm energy yield predictions.
Processes of determining appropriate turbine class requirements for a prospective wind farm site.
Technical assessment of wind turbine designs.
Gathering and analysis of wind turbine SCADA data, and wind turbine condition / performance monitoring. You will also be able to contribute to the identification and development of ideas for potential R&D projects, and the execution of R&D projects.You will be an engineering individual, with a relevant degree or equivalent. Teamwork plays a big part in this role, so you must be able communicate effectively and build strong working partnerships.Familiarity with software such as Bladed would be useful and experience in the use of computational fluid dynamic tools would also be a positive advantage.
