Allen & York is currently looking to recruit for a Assistant Scientist Avifauna (UAE National only) on behalf Government Organization in Abu Dhabi. The role will participate in conducting research, monitoring and assessment activities related avifauna in the Emirate using systematic and scientifically sound methodologies in order to ensure comprehensive and reliable information is collected and analyzed to improve knowledge base on fisheries within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.


Key Accountabilities:
Follow the day-to-day operations set by Scientist Avifauna to ensure continuity of work and the delivery of effective and high quality outputs.
Report on a regular basis to Scientist Avifauna on the operational activities, challenges and issues faced, mitigations taken, etc. as required to keep them informed and updated on the activities performed.
Conduct passive and active monitoring activities in order to collect data on the presence/ absence and abundance of avifauna within TPAs and selected sites.
Document and maintain data from avifauna monitoring activities to ensure adequate and comprehensive data is maintained for lab work and analyses activities, and ensure data is collected in line with set priorities, standards and guidelines.
Participate in reviewing and analysing collected data / samples to understand current state of avifauna, and analyse findings against various selected sites and previously captured data inventory in order to understand trends and changes, and test for diseases and avoid potential threats, such as epidemics.
Conduct monitoring activities related to breeding avifauna (winter and summer breeders) in order to ensure accurate numbers are recorded, and identify breeding threats and recommend resolutions to avoid those threats.
Participate in conducting field work as per the set plans in order to understand reasons behind displacements, extinctions, and endangered avifauna, and develop inventory for analysis purposes.
Participate in conducting analyses of field work against set measures, conservation programmes and biodiversity considerations in order to identify trends and threats, and evaluate effectiveness of conservation programmes.
Study invasive avifauna, and maintain records in order to understand their impact and effect on other species.
Fit satellite transmitters on avifauna to keep track of their locations, and understand their local movements and migration patterns.
Report animal poachers if illegal activities are committed to the Terrestrial Protected Areas Management and Wildlife Law Enforcement section in order to ensure the safety of wildlife animals.
Assist the Scientist Avifauna in preparing reports to present avifauna research, assessment and monitoring activities, key findings, and evaluate identified issues in order to inform effective decision making and ensure timely and effective reporting.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders on matters related to avifauna research, assessment and monitoring in order to facilitate flow of information and build awareness.
Follow all relevant section policies, processes, procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
Support the creation of a change management culture through taking a 'hands-on' and 'can-do' approach to EAD's new business changes, participating rapidly to the development of new initiatives, meeting planned targets, and demonstrating preferred high performance behaviours.
Comply with all relevant EHS guidelines, policies and procedures, report incidents and hazards in a timely manner, and reduce consumption of natural resources to support in protecting the environment and ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
Perform additional duties commensurate with the current role, as and when requested by the Scientist Avifauna.

Minimum Qualifications
UAE National (UAE Passport holder)
Bachelor's Degree in Animal Biology/ Animal Behavior/ Zoology or any related specialization
Minimum Experience 4 to 6 years of experience in a relevant field
