Our client is an innovative company delivering leading smart grid energy services, looking to bring on board a committed and results-orientated Business Development Manager to help support the exciting growth of the business in the UK. The experienced candidate will come from a background in sales and business development, possessing the ability to manage internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting to the UK Managing Director, the commercially astute Business Development Manager will have a solid understanding of enterprise-type sales & marketing processes, drivers and cycles in a B2B environment. Our client is seeking a candidate with good awareness of technology and software development, familiarity with UK energy markets and an enthusiasm for clean technology.


Key Responsibilities

  • Actively seeking new business prospects and exploiting opportunities to enhance brand capital through networking, attending industry events and building strategic relationships
  • Leading the development of business propositions in order to sell bespoke energy management programmes to large energy consumers
  • Progressing the development of solutions in collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Exploiting opportunities to achieve sales targets through the creation of cross-offerings and synergetic proposals for individual clients
  • Drive brand awareness and grow market share through sustained promotion of the company's brand equities in the UK market
  • Providing market forecasting to assist with the company's continual UK growth strategy



Key Requirements

  • The proficiency to influence, negotiate and develop channel partnerships
  • Strong experience in sales and business development with the ability to apply business development techniques to develop long-term opportunities to point of sale
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the confidence to present sophisticated and technical concepts to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to manage and forecast sales cycles
  • Consummate customer management skills
  • An intrinsically strategic thinker, with operational delivery capability
  • A Professional individual, in articulacy, honesty and commitment to clients
  • Enthusiasm about green energy and technology, a dedication to improving the energy market for clients, and respected in the industry with knowledge of industry best practices
  • The ability to alter seamlessly between, and thrive as either part of a team or autonomously
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, and trained in at least one sales methodology (preferably SPIN, TAS, Miller-Heiman or equivalent)
  • A full UK driving license, as a degree of UK travel is required
  • Existing UK based industrial and commercial consumer contacts is desired, but not essential
