My client is looking for an exciting and passionate Consultant Ecologist to join their London and Sussex offices. They are working on a wide variety of projects from habitat and protected species surveys, through to ecological clerk of works, BREEAM assessments and large scale infrastructure work such as HS2 as well as single dwellings.
Responsibilities of a Consultant Ecologist
The Ecologist will be a part of all aspects of their work with a focus on preliminary ecological appraisals, protected species surveys and the production of EPSM licences. You will also be asked to take on and manage individual contracts, and will be required to deliver high quality work within both time and budgetary deadlines.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Liaising with clients, other consultants and consultees
• Acquiring data from third parties
• Organising and supervising staff and subcontractors
• Preparing maps and writing and editing reports
• Office management
• Help with the marketing and promotion of the company
You will also be required to travel to successfully carry out contracts, including overnight stays and longer periods working away from home.
Who you are
• Have an appropriate degree
• 3 or more years' relevant work experience
• Strong knowledge of UK and EU opportunities
• Be eligible for Associate or above membership of the CIEEM
• Excellent report writing skills
• Experience of managing projects within time and financial constraints
• Able to lead surveys
• A full clean UK drivers licence
• You'll be a proactive, self-starter
Desirable traits
• Be in possession or working towards a NE bat licence, and be experienced with bat surveys, activity transects and mitigation
• Experience with a range of bat detectors
• Experience writing ESPM licences
