Energy Technician
Cheshire

The role of the Energy Technician will be to support the Energy Manager, at a leading facilities management company, in developing and implementing the energy services model across of one of the main contracted sites. This role will sit within the site based FM team, with a functional report into the central energy team.

Main Responsibilities of the Energy Officer/Technician

  • You will monitor energy use across the site, providing best practice solutions for data collection
  • Plan, monitor and manage utility consumption to achieve volume reduction
  • Provide support for site surveys and energy audit functions
  • Provide energy audit / survey and performance monitoring / benchmark reports
  • Prepare business cases / life cycle costings
  • Assist in developing an appropriate monitoring and verification plan based upon IPMVP
  • Maintain knowledge of existing & emerging efficiency technologies and energy / carbon legislation
  • You will liaise with supply chain and industry groups
  • Support the existing energy / sustainability requirements across the business
  • Understand the customers' business, their drivers and requirements to achieve the desired outcome


About You

  • Minimum ONC / C&G in Building Service Engineering or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Good knowledge of Building Management Systems and controls
  • Understand the principles behind HVAC operation and system design / integration
  • Knowledge of the legislative requirements (existing and emerging) around energy, carbon and emissions and the financial impact of each
  • Experience of FM business and strategy
  • Knowledge of the principle techniques and technologies which support the efficient use of energy, including renewable and low/zero carbon (LZC's)
  • Knowledge of the sustainability agenda and the fundamental corporate responsibility (CR) drivers
  • Knowledge of customer operations, business drivers, financials and specialist sources of information
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Able use initiative and manage workload to achieve deadlines
