We are excited to be working exclusively with leading UK based contractor who are seeking to appoint an experienced Health & Safety Manager to work with them on international projects.

You will be a good communicator who enjoys liaising with clients, customers and other key stakeholders. You will have a pragmatic and logical approach to prioritising a large workload. The role involves working individually as well as working well engaging a large team.
 
Job Purpose

The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for all health and safety matters on the site and on specific client Frameworks and individual projects within business. To ensure that the company is fully obliging to its legal duties as stipulated by relevant governing governing bodies.  

As part of the Health and Safety Department you will be accountable and report to the Health and Safety Director and be responsible for all aspects of Health and Safety covering your allocated projects in Europe.
  
Your Duties
  • Implement and maintain the aims and objectives of the Company Health and Safety policy in line with legislation
  • Ensure health and safety standards are implemented across the site
  • Provide timely and appropriate recommendations to Directors
  • Chair monthly Health and Safety meetings
  • Investigate all accidents and near misses
  • Produce monthly reports to the H&S departments
  • Chair health and safety workshops to employees
  • Review supply chain policies and procedures
  • Provide technical support and knowledge to tenders
  • Liaise and build relationships with established local European H&S boards
  • Carry out audits and inspections
  • Promote best practice
  • Ensure the drug and alcohol policy is adhered to
  • Ensure that all projects undertaken comply with the requirements of relevant legislation and internal H&S procedures and standards.
  • Work closely with the Quality & Environmental functions as part of a developing integrated management function

The Key Deliverables

  • Implementing, Coordinating and standardising the Health and Safety standards across the site
  • Reasearch of new legislation and developments
  • Reviewing company management systems
  • Assist in the writing of new procedures
  • Assist CDMC's and planners when required
  • Assist site and project managers
  • Provide information in a variety of forms to engage employees
  • Ensure project induction instructions are reviewed every 4 weeks
  • Review method statements
  • Communicate effectively with the Health and Safety Executive/ Inspectorate
  • Investigate accidents/incidents as required by internal policies and RIDDOR
  • Liaise with Project Managers and Business Support Managers on contract standards
  • Ensure everyone takes accountability for their actions
  • Monitor the effective running of the supervisor's safety meetings
  • Ensure that all risk assessments are carried out
  • Ensure that the on site offices meet the requirements of the workplace safety act

Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to coach and lead a small team
  • Qualified to basic NEBOSH certificate and Construction NEBOSH certificate or equivalent.
  • Qualified or working towards NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ4
