 The Role:
My client is looking for a talented and driven Principal Consultant to join their Edinburgh office. You will bring engineering and environmental expertise, you will also be responsible for supporting flood and coastal risk projects for the Edinburgh office and throughout the UK. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide technical review of the Water portfolio in Edinburgh
• A strong history of project management and direction is crucial; in this role you will be managing projects with a value of up to £5m
• Be a strong leadership figure for commercial, contractual and management activities
• Serve as an Expert Witness when required, as well as delivering construction management and supervision, in addition to administrative expertise
• Develop the regional business, with an emphasis on winning major projects, private sector work and contractors and frameworks
• Bring expertise and knowledge of the market, with a mind to generate sales in both public and private sectors focusing on Scotland
• Managing client relationships and developing new ones
• Direct the delivery of the SEPA flood risk management consultancy framework;
• Actively promote excellence in the quality of designs and deliverables
• Take the lead on proposals and tenders
• Bring expertise and market knowledge to generate sales in both the public and private sectors with a focus in Scotland;
• Support the development of the water's edge and fluvial and coastal business;
• Support the growth and development of the team;
• Market the team internally and externally
• Be flexible to travel around a number of UK and international locations.

Key Requirements:
• Bachelors or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering
• Chartered Engineer via ICE or CIWEM or a Chartered Scientist with CIWEM with significant post-qualification experience
• Knowledge and practical experience of Scottish policy and procedures
• Working knowledge and experience of NEC3 contract management
• Knowledge and practical experience of civil engineering industry and environmental procedures and best practice
• Excellent commercial understanding and technical track record
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
