Our client is looking for technically experienced Principle Engineers to become an integral part of their project design team where you will be accountable for providing leadership and technical advice. You will work on a great variety of railway station structures both in the UK and internationally.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Technical Director, you will take on a key role in providing leadership, technical advice and leading by example where appropriate, managing components of the project ensuring they meet budgetary, quality, safety and timeframe targets, whilst exceeding the client expectations.
Provide leadership, direction and technical advice to project team member
Champion technical excellence, quality of delivery, provision of innovative solutions and an entrepreneurial culture within the office and wider business
Identify opportunities and drive implementation of re-engineering strategies to maximise the profitability of design components
Demonstrate a proactive role in developing team members to their full potential
Provide input into the sector strategy/ business plans, leading by example and contributing towards achievement of the goals of the business.
Proactively manage selected projects (or components of projects), take responsibility for resource allocation, manage subcontractors, manage the production of analysis and design (including drawings and reports), ensure the integrity of the overall design (in collaboration with other design disciplines), quality assurance and client feedback
Manage all commercial aspects (contract, invoicing, debt management, client management etc) relating to projects for which responsible
Gain a good understanding of the background of the client's business and industry to facilitate building effective and enduring relationships and consolidating both company and personal credibility in the industry
Being familiar and compliant with relevant H&S regulations and promote a culture of awareness
Civil or Structural Engineering Degree
Chartered Engineer with associated professional membership (C.Eng, MICE, MIstructE)
Post-graduate qualifications an advantage
Demonstrable post-Chartership experience, including supervising aspects of a project of significant scale, application of standards
Good motivation, influencing, people management and delegation skills
Previous consulting experience on major rail station structures and conversant in the application of Euro Codes
Familiarity with appropriate design software (Bentley Rail Track, MX, Superstress, Robot, Revit, Lusas etc)
Previous experience of delivering a project within a BIM environment is preferable
Ability to think in an innovative and entrepreneurial manner with good understanding of commercial aspects of a project
Previous experience of working on major rail projects overseas would be advantageous
