One of the biggest providers of classification and technical assurance along with software and independent expert advisory services to the maritime, oil & gas and energy industries is looking for a Senior Due Diligence Engineer for their Solar team in Ireland.

Responsibilities

 

Our Client is looking to recruit a Solar PV due diligence engineer as part of expanding their existing UK capacity to meet the evolving needs of the Irish Market The role is technical in nature and would suit someone looking for a commercial and customer facing role.

 

The role will principally involve working within the Solar team to provide technical consulting services throughout the development, procurement and construction phases of solar farm projects, including procurement assistance, technical due diligence and acting as Lender’s and Owner’s Engineer during the construction phase.

 

It is expected that the role will involve an initial period of work in the UK to become familiar with our services within that market.

 

  • Support provision of technical advice to clients including:
  • Specification assistance for all aspects of solar farm construction
  • Assist clients with procurement including contract negotiation and tendering
  • General project advice
  • Technical due diligence of pre-construction and operational projects
  • Other ad-hoc advice
  • Support due diligence activity to include: data analysis, documentation review and risk analysis.
  • Liaising with a wide range of clients from solar farm developers to financial institutions
  • Work on multiple projects, managing own time to meet deadlines.
  • Producing written reports and other documentation for delivery to the client
  • Supporting the continuous improvement and development of group procedures and documentation
  • Any other appropriate duties as directed by line management
  • The individual may act in a supporting role for contact (phone/email/meetings) with the Client (Lender and Owners) and Client’s project team as well as construction contractors, stakeholders and other third parties.

 

 

  • While in Dublin the individual will work closely with the local BD lead for Ireland in promoting solar services.
  • As an established player in the Irish onshore wind market, we would also expect the individual to undertake some wind work from time to time.
  • Financial (budgetary control etc.)
  • Pre-agreed authorisation levels for contracts, purchases and other commitments will be standard according to staff grade.
  • Project work typically relates to assignments in the range £5k to £100k in value.
  • Provision of professional technical due diligence reports to a very high standard, suitable for investors and lenders. A key part of this is the provision of commercial judgements to technical risks and issues, often under significant time pressure.
  • Producing proposals for work.
  • Eventually presenting work to customers, with sufficient technical understanding to deal with Q&A sessions with limited support.

 Requirements

 

  • Significant experience in the renewables industry in a technical consulting capacity.
  • An appropriate degree/higher degree in an engineering subject.
  • Proven ability to produce clear written reports and communicate verbally in English.
  • Good IT skills, and experience using MS Office suite packages.
  • Demonstrable ability to deliver complex tasks to tight timelines.
  • Good organisation and time management skills.
  • Adaptability, and able to cope with a wide variety of tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Previous experience in performing due diligence activities.
  • Experience in Solar PV as well as wind energy
  • Good understanding of wind energy and previous experience in wind lender and OE activities as there will be opportunities for the candidate to work in wind projects (onshore and offshore).
  • Understanding of standard contract forms in construction, in particular for renewable energy projects
  • Understanding of Irish planning as will be applied to PV
  • Good understanding of project finance structures and the financial models for renewable energy projects

  • Regular site visits across Ireland and occasionally to the UK will be required,. These may require the occasional need for overnight stays.
  • Occasional international travel may be required from time to time, including for supporting projects in other markets.
