Senior Public Health Engineer
London

Our client, a multi-disciplinary consulting engineering practice providing tailored engineering solutions, currently has an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven Senior Public Health Engineer to join their team in London working within multi-disciplinary design teams.

You should be a demonstrable and strong professional knowledge as well as first-hand experience within all aspects of Public Health Building Services systems. Your knowledge must include above ground sanitation and rainwater systems, below ground drainage systems and sustainable drainage. It would be advantageous if you have some experience of Cold water systems, Hot water systems including solar and fire engineering including wet and dry risers, sprinkler systems and fire hydrants.

About You

  • Demonstrate key roles in major projects across a variety of market sectors including industrial, commercial, education, public buildings and healthcare
  • Skilled in the use of industry standard software and Microsoft Office suite of software
  • Show personal commitment to technical and career development (CPD)
  • Produce drawings and specifications
  • Be able to monitor own design delivery for quality and in line with programme and budget
  • Liaise with the other design department members to understand client's requirements and select solutions, plant and equipment appropriately
  • Display services technical design knowledge and co-ordination
  • Regularly interface with senior staff, clients, contractors and suppliers throughout the normal project-cycle to develop system design
  • Manage your own time to ensure project deadlines are achieved
  • Represent the company at certain project meetings
  • Understand sustainability and implementation (LZC)
  • Undertake site management of contractors and installations
  • Have practical site knowledge and experience
  • Follow quality assurance processes and implementation
  • Display a sound understanding of other disciplines
  • Possess excellent time management skills
  • Be capable of proactively implementing plans
  • Follow through with sustained execution and meet project milestones
  • Be forward thinking with the ability to anticipate problems
  • Be highly motivated with the drive to take on new challenges with consistent delivery of excellent engineering
  • Work alongside a Senior Public Health Engineer within the team


Memberships (or working towards)

  • Membership of CiPHE (formally IoP) and/or SOPHE
  • BREEAM & Passivhaus understanding and implementation
  • Undertaking feasibility assessments and production of RIBA stage C&D reports


You should have knowledge of:

  • IT design (Hevacomp and Revit) would be beneficial
  • British & European Standards, Building Regulations including strong design knowledge of BS EN 12056 and Part H of the Building Regulations
  • Working knowledge of current and proposed legislation, guidelines and good practice documents relating to sustainability and building design
  • Knowledge of HTM's would be beneficial but not essential
