Foreword
Welcome to the 12th edition of our newsletter!
A ‘high voltage grid’, what does this mean to you? September so far has seen the EU in talks about a transnational power grid across the North Sea. The original plans were a proposition from Greenpeace campaigning for further actions to protect the environment and encourage the use of renewable energy.
The power grid would connect more than 100 wind farms, 10,000 turbines, across an offshore distance of 3,850 miles which could provide electricity for 70 million homes.
This project could potentially cost £16 billion and alongside the UK, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Norway would need the right people with the right skills.
Currently, the ever changing climate is still increasing energy bills which need to be cut. These issues need to be addressed and in this months issue of the newsletter you can see a selection of the opportunities we have on offer for energy professionals.
The BWEA 30 is the UK’s leading renewable energy event that is taking place over 21st to 23rd October at the Excel Centre in London. Allen & York will be present at this event to help highlight the opportunities with investing in wind, wave and tidal power to help with the growth of the industry. Come and visit us there!
