Top Tips - Preparing for an Interview
Your Application has been successful and you have been invited to an interview.
The key to a good interview is preparation.
Here are some top tips to help you prepare for the interview!
- Do as much research as possible on the company and the role.
- If you know anyone who works in the same field or business area ask them questions.
- What are the key skills the employer is looking for, make sure you have examples of these for the interview.
- Prepare for competency based questions for example:
- Tell me about a time when you had to work to a tight deadline?
- Give me an example of a time where you have worked in a team? What role did you play?....
- Always ensure you have supporting examples and give as much information as possible to stop them from prompting you.
- Ensure you have clear answers ready for the basic questions for example Salary and notice period.
- List some questions to ask the interviewer try to keep it 3 or 4 key questions.
- Dress to impress, always wear Business dress you want to look and feel the part!
- Make sure you arrive at least 10 minutes early and you know where you are going
- You must have positive body language in the interview- Good posture, strong handshake, eye contact and smile!
Lastly remember to relax, take your time when answering questions and remember the interviewers are only human!
