The global shift to a clean energy economy keeps accelerating, creating millions of renewable energy jobs for professionals around the world, and showing once again that decarbonisation and economic growth can go hand-in-hand.

According to a new report from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) more than 7.7 million people were employed by renewable energy industries worldwide at the end of 2014.

This rocketing figure is up 18% from 2013, mirroring the global rise in new renewable energy installations.

IRENA’s Renewable Energy and Jobs – Annual Review 2015 reports significant employment milestones in several renewable energy industries, including 2.5 million solar photovoltaics jobs, 1.5 million jobs in large hydropower, and 1 million wind energy jobs.
