31 May by

According to figures published by the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) the number of UK passenger journeys reached record levels in 2015-16, with a total of 1.69 billion passenger journeys were made on British railways.

The ‘passenger train kilometres’ have increased year on year since the measure was first introduced in 2010, and we have seen a 5.1 percent increase in the past five years, with a 0.8 percent rise on last year.

The total revenue was also up significantly, to 4.7 percent on last year, topping £9.3 billion.

Jobs within the rail sector are also in high demand and at ALLEN & YORK we are seeing a growing demand for rail professional at all levels.
