Your CV doesn't have to be 20 pages long to impress. In fact it's better if it's 2-3 pages long (max).
We literally see 1000s of CVs a month and the best are the clear, concise and simply laid out.
The layout that we would suggest is:
- Profile (a quick summary of yourself).
- Education & Qualifications.
- Career History (starting with your present role and listing the date/company/ job title of your past jobs).
- Skills & Membership.
- References (it's fine to put 'references on request').
Resist over-designing your CV (unless you're a designer) because many recruitment consultancies will reformat your details into a house-style, which our clients prefer.
Sending it as a simple Word document is how we would prefer to receive CVs, as it makes it much quicker and easier to send your details out to our clients.
Follow these simple guidelines and your CV will be seen and sent to prospective employers quickly and efficiently.
