RICS Increase Technology Focus

14 March by Alan Jarque

Technology is having a profound impact on jobs within the built environment and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) are working on a number of initiatives to ensure they are in line with technology trends.

Examples of this include;

  • RICS Strategic FM conference  dedicated to examining the impact of digital technology on the profession.
  • Introducing a technology theme into conferences, journals and course modules (for those undertaking their APC there was a recent consultation on a number of new data and technology based competencies).
  • Launching the Technology Affiliate Program (a formal launch of the program is planned for April).
  • RICS announced as the most influential global online brand in property technology.

At ALLEN & YORK our Planning & Surveying team have seen a marked increase in demand for skilled professionals across mapping and modelling, particularly with BIM and Geomatics skills, which are in high demand.

We are delighted to see this increased technology focus from RICS as it also helps us, as specialist recruiters keep up to speed with new technology developments within the sector.
