Your application has been successful and you have been invited to an interview. The key to a good interview is preparation.
Here are some tips to help you prepare for a great interview;
Do as much research as possible on the company and the role.
Understand why you want to work for company and have some examples, for when you are asked.
What are the key skills the employer is looking for, make sure you have examples of these for the interview.
Prepare for competency based questions for example:
- Tell me about a time when you had to work to a tight deadline?
- Give me an example of a time where you have worked in a team? What role did you play?
Ensure you have clear answers ready for the basic questions for example: salary and notice period.
List some questions to ask the interviewer try to keep it 2 or 3 key questions.
Make sure you arrive at least 10 minutes early and you know where you are going.
You must have positive body language in the interview- Good posture, strong handshake, eye contact and smile!
Lastly remember to relax, take your time when answering questions and don't be nervous they are interested in what you have to say.
AT THE INTERVIEW
At a job interview first impressions can make or break your chances of getting a job offer.
The recruiter will make judgments about you in those first few seconds.
Dress to impress! Make sure you are smartly dressed and well presented.
Smile and be friendly.
Let the interviewer take the lead and know when to stop talking , ensure you keep to the point and don't waffle.
The employer is looking for people who want to work for them, so be enthusiastic about the role.
Remember always remain positive and try not to let your nerves show.
