ALLEN & YORK successfully recruit for BP Safety & Operational Risk (S&OR) team


BP is one of the world's leading international oil and gas companies and with 83,400 employees worldwide and as such they are very aware of their responsibility towards the environment and the safety of their employees across this complex organisation.

In 2010 an independent safety and operational risk (S&OR) function was established; a team which is c 600 in number and ALLEN & YORK, as specialist recruiters within environment,sustainability and health & safety, has been working closely with BP to source leading global talent to join the team.


As S&OR is a growing team they have requirements across a variety of disciplines from risk engineering and marine conservation to corporate sustainability and social responsibility. ALLEN & YORK were delighted to be invited to present their solution to meet BP’s extensive requirements to grow the S&OR team and they have been engaged to work on a series of assignments across the H&S, Environmental and Sustainability disciplines.

This was achieved through a detailed knowledge of BP’s structures and requirements for each role, and applying that to our understanding of HSE, Sustainability and Environment.

We of course arranged all the interviews and coordinated the offer negotiations, and are delighted that the following positions have been filled; Human Rights Specialist, Manager of Environmental Technology Programmes, HSSE Project Manager, Remediation Strategy Manager, Technical Authority Ecology and Environmental Manager.
