ALLEN & YORK Successfully Recruit for CRONIMET MINING

As an integral yet independent part of CRONIMET, CRONIMET Mining AG is a global provider of integrated solutions for primary raw materials: from mining to processing, trading and renewable mining energy. Founded in 2004, CRONIMET Mining AG is now active all over the world with its own production locations and service centres. 

Having made a commitment to align their economic activities with environmental and social objectives, CRONIMET Mining AG approached ALLEN & YORK, to assist in the recruitment of a Sustainability Director for their Mining operation in Eastern Europe. 

Retained Executive Search Assignment

ALLEN & YORK’s Sustainability Recruitment team were engaged by CRONIMET on a Retained Executive Search; within this service, ALLEN & YORK offer a dedicated team which delivers within strict timescales and utilizes our full range of advertising, headhunting and global networks across the sustainability sector.

The role of Sustainability Director was to be based in Armenia in Eastern Europe, with primary responsibility to implement sustainability procedures and programmes within the site operation.  Essential criteria for candidates included; an in-depth understanding of mining, extensive experience of environment, community and social matters and strategic planning ability, with the gravitas to engage key stakeholders and influence at board level.  

With of course, the ability to be based in Armenia. 

Delivering Results

ALLEN & YORK’s Sustainability team presented a long list and with continual communication with CRONIMET’s recruitment team, narrowed this to a shortlist of key candidates.  As a highly specialist and executive role the talent pool was quite narrow and this assignment is a great demonstration of the breath of technical knowledge and geographic reach of the ALLEN & YORK Sustainability recruitment team. 

The final three candidates were separated by three continents with the CRONIMET recruitment team based on a fourth!  Our teams are highly experienced in liaising between different countries, but bringing everyone together in this assignment was quite a logistical challenge.  However, all interviews and travel schedules and were arranged smoothly and a key candidate shone out. The ALLEN & YORK team managed all the offer and on-boarding arrangements and CRONIMET were delighted to welcome their new Sustainability Director, within agreed timescales.
