Climate & Sustainability Consultant
£24k-£30k DOE, Oxford or Cambridge
Looking to enhance your career with a world leading environmental consultancy?
Our client has a culture firmly based in the environment and supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and is now looking to expand their team.
Based in either Oxford or Cambridge, the Climate & Sustainability Consultant (Agriculture) will support the delivery of existing contracts and develop/win projects of their own. Enhancing the environmental sustainability of food consumption and helping to improve current practices and the wider supply chain will be core elements of this role.
What do you need to succeed in this role? Firstly, a good knowledge of agriculture, sustainability and the issues affecting the sector. Combine this with an understanding of the wider food supply chain and motivation to support the move toward Net Zero and you'll be well on the way.
If you have an interest in improving productivity, understand the value of pesticides, want to reduce water use, advocate responsible sourcing and have a good, broad knowledge of agriculture and sustainability issues, this could be the role for you.
You'll be a good communicator, working with clients collecting, analysing and interpreting data. You'll be adept at report writing and delivering compelling presentations and will support the senior team to ensure all projects are delivered to the highest standards.
With a commercial outlook, you'll be able to support the senior sales team in the preparation of proposals and assist in developing content for tenders, coming up with innovative ideas to help widen the business' client base. Proficiency in Word and PowerPoint is expected as is a clear, concise writing style.
Knowledge and experience of key UK agricultural production systems, either crop based or livestock and a good understanding of greenhouse gas emission sources and carbon accounting will be particularly useful. It's likely the successful candidate will have post-university experience of working in agricultural, sustainability or food supply chain consultancy and must have a good knowledge of at least one agricultural production system (e.g. arable, horticulture, beef, dairy, pigs or poultry).
You'll likely have a degree (or equivalent) in Agriculture, Biology, Geography or similar and excellent knowledge of mathematics. A higher qualification in Sustainable Agriculture would also be an advantage.
With good IT skills (Office Suite), the ability to work independently and part of a team, you'll have excellent attention to detail in order to succeed this role.
In return for the skills and experience outlined, you'll receive a competitive salary, combined with a contributory pension scheme, flexible benefits - including being able to buy additional holiday and private healthcare - and will receive regular training and development opportunities.
