Assistant Project Manager - Transmission and Distribution

Our client is a fast growing ICP who undertake new electrical utility connections. They are looking to recruit an Assistant project Manager to assist and support in the successful delivery of new electricity connection projects from LV to 66kV, on behalf of a growing independent company with a national footprint.

The Role

  • Assist the Project Managers in the management and supervision of internal and external staff; covering cable jointing, substation installation, excavation & reinstatement, cable installation, commissioning and energisation
  • The candidate will work with assigned Project Managers and others, to help achieve their respective project objectives
  • Responsible for project safety, cost and quality
  • Prepare Work Instructions, Risk Assessments & Method Statements
  • Liaise with Local Authorities regarding street works
  • Procure and control project materials
  • Provide monthly project reports and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Liaise with DNO's & iDNO's to complete final connections
  • Liaise with and support both the client and team to ensure smooth project delivery
  • To be fully aware of the market that UK Power Solutions are operating within

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Qualification in Electrical Engineering e.g. C&G, ONC, HNC & Degree or qualifications in a similar discipline, will be viewed favourably
  • Previous experience in Project Management within the Electricity distribution industry or similar is useful
  • Experience of DNO, iDNO, local authority liaison and previous DNO/iDNO authorisations an advantage
  • Experience in managing internal and external labour for cable laying, cable jointing, switchgear installation and commissioning will be viewed favourably
  • Previous experience of power distribution networks is beneficial
  • Solid organisational ability, initiative and strong influencing skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, with good communication skills
  • Customer service orientated, and a desire to achieve the best results and contribute to the success
  • Problem solver and solution provider
  • IOSH, SMSTS, ECS, CSCS, NRSWA Supervisor, First Aid, Manual handling - these accreditations are useful but not mandatory as full training will be given
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Keen to learn and commit to long term career progression
  • Intermediate IT skills to include Microsoft Office applications, spreadsheets and database software
