Our client is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting for a Controls Automation Engineer to join the team located in Hertfordshire on a pharmaceuticals site. The successful candidate will provide a support service to facilitate the repair, maintenance, calibration and certification of laboratory instrumentation.
Role Summary:
- Specialist in Lab Automation, including Cell analytical equipment, Liquid Handling devices, Flow Cytometry, Target equipment base Agilent (Velocity11), Thermo, Hamilton, Molecular Devices, Matrix, Tecan, Beckman, Compound Management Storage, Microplate Imaging
- Liaise with staff regarding the services required for the efficient installation, maintenance, moves and relocations and support of proposed items of instrumentation
- To qualify, redeploy, repair, service and calibrate equipment, either by direct application of own expertise or develop knowledge via original equipment manufacturers training
- Liaise with visiting engineers responsible for commissioning or servicing equipment
- Use knowledge and experience in helping to ensure that a high standard of safety of equipment is maintained
- Develop knowledge and expertise so that those ramifications of new technologies are understood
- Offer comments, where asked, on engineering and scientific aspects of proposed equipment to be purchased
- Conform, when required, to individual service record documentation protocols
- Discuss all essential points arising from the above duties with the section leader to implement any mutually agreed suggestions
- To assist in providing site coverage from the hours of 8.30am to 5.30pm for support to scientific staff and for the safety of visiting engineers
- To accommodate all reasonable requests from management, such that continuity of support is given to customers and sites from both a business and operational perspective
- Able to travel across sites when required
Experience Required:
- Qualifications in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
- Extensive experience in a test, service and support environment
- Ample knowledge of hi-tech engineering or manufacturing equipment
- Experience of electrical mechanical and pneumatic fault-finding at system and component level
- Configuration and set-up of PLCs and servo drives
- Configuration of PCs and installing software packages
- Ability to read and understand electrical/mechanical drawings
- PC literate - Microsoft office
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with senior management
- Good customer interfacing skills
- Proven problem solving and innovative resolution ability
- Ability to engage others in driving solutions
- Effective time manager and able to work independently
