Business Development




  • Achieve and exceed period targets in accordance with all company procedures and codes of conduct.
  • Prospecting - Identify sales opportunities and potential customers.
  • Generate and qualify leads from a variety of sources.
  • Cold call prospective customers by phone and in person.
  • Pipeline management – Build sales pipeline, develop and implement sales activity plans across the period and year. Utilisation of the 20 day rollover planner.
  • Make sales calls to new customers and make customer appointments.
  • Respond to sales enquiries by phone, electronically and in person.
  • Follow through with customer appointments. Conduct professional meetings, comprehensively questioning and listening to fully understand customer requirements.
  • Develop and deliver presentations.
  • Develop and articulate an effective sales proposition.
  • Develop strong business relationships with customers, branch personnel, support functions and peers across the business.
  • Work with branch personnel and support departments to help ensure that customer requirements are met, and any issues are resolved in a timely fashion.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive customer database and maintain up to date customer meeting and activity records.
  •  Fully understand the current and potential customer base within your territory. Plan activity to maximise time prospecting and meeting customers.
  • Manage your geographic area with regard travel planning and meetings; being mindful of effective time management and health & safety requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver regular sales reports and management information as required.
  • Participate in sales and corporate events and campaigns as necessary.
  • Participate in sales and business meetings.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market conditions, and product development, reporting/escalating key activity, developments and issues as necessary.
  • Any other duties reasonably requested and which are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job. 


  • Represent the Company in a professional manner at all times
  • Understand and agree KPI’s and performance criteria
  • Act with honesty and integrity in all business dealings and adheres to Company Code of Business Conduct.
  • Ensure that processes and procedures are adhered to.
  • Ensure that a job description for their role is received and fully understood.
  • Ensure objectives/goals are set with manager to facilitate performance appraisal.
  • Monitor achievement of targets, KPI’s and goals and identify training needs.
  • Undertake regular training and research to ensure high performance levels are maintained.

  • Experience within the Hazardous Waste Industry. (Hazardous Landfill knowledge an advantage)
  • Maintains high standards of performance and can demonstrate thorough understanding of sales practice and principles.
