Allen & York are delighted to have been retained by The Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA) to lead their search for a new Chief Executive Officer. Through the alliance of environment and sustainability professionals, IEMA harnesses and develops the collective experience and vision of thought leaders in this most pressing and high-profile subject area. We believe this position leading the organisation and their collective voice in this vital debate represents a "once in career" opportunity.

As CEO of IEMA you will lead its membership forward whilst shaping the direction of the organisation itself into the future. A number of skills and attributes are required, including being an excellent communicator. You will seek out opportunities in the media, at events/conferences and within regulatory and policy circles to promote IEMA and its sustainability and environment agenda, including single use plastics, climate change, the circular economy and net environment gain through development..

You will also have strong advocacy and representation skills, possibly including lobbying experience where you will have dealt with politicians and policy makers. You will be able to demonstrate a real talent for listening, influencing and education and be able to build consensus and stimulate debate. You will be a confident and comfortable communicator able to represent credibly across a range of topics with a variety of audiences.

As IEMA looks towards the future your role will include further development of the internal structures and strategies, galvanising the team to greater things.

Your background may have been gained in the private, public or third sectors. We are looking for a leader with vision and passion; you will set direction, culture and strategy and have demonstrable experience to highlight your suitability for the role.

The IEMA Head Office is in Lincoln and whilst the nature of the role will not require you to be present at all times you will need to get to know the Team and be visible, especially at the outset. It is envisaged that time away from home will be a common occurrence and you will need to be comfortable with a significant degree of travelling within the role.
