Our client are a leading provider of utility contracting services to Distribution Network Operators, the private sector and the public sector across the UK. They are looking to recruit a Civil Supervisor with experience within either construction or electrical utilities.


o Complete estimating for projects as per agreed schedule of rates
o Ensure adequate transport and plant available for all necessary works
o Liaise with Compliance and Training Manager
o Ensure site installations are carried out to standard expected by Client/relevant regulations
o Ensure all quality audits and corrective actions are closed out on time
o Liaise with client personnel and local authorities; attend all relevant meetings
o Set up site, folders, Smart Dig Plans
o Monitor site, agree workload with site foreman on a daily / weekly basis
o Monitor monthly hours report with site foreman and liaise with client and contractors
o Survey and program jobs on a weekly basis and populate planner with addresses
o Complete BoQ’s process accurately and cascade to Team
o Carry out standby duties to supervise out of Hours TM issues
o Attend weekly /monthly progress meetings with Project Manager
o Assist Project Manager on achieving higher or lower KPI’s
o Manage resources to ensure maximum productivity is achieved in line with forecast
o Assist in cost control initiatives within the department
o Highlight any variations required on projects to Project Manager
o Provide daily costs of labour, material, sub-contractors and hours expelled
Health and Safety
o Create Method Statements and Generic Risk Assessments and prior to all projects commencing
o Ensure all personal, the first time on site, have to be inducted
o Responsible for the completion of Operatives Daily Risk Assessment
o Prior to any works commencing, conduct the appropriate asbestos surveying in line with current legislation
o Conduct regular H&S safety audits on Operatives as per agreed targets
o Follow HSEQ processes and procedures
o Follow client HSEQ processes and procedures
o Ownership for H&S procedures for employees, sub-contractors, members of the public and other third parties
o Highlight any issues which may affect compliance with Client HSEQ requirements or legislation

Quality of Work
o Complete Quality of Work audits (number to be agreed)
o Pass completed Quality of Work audits to Support Assistant for updating
People Matters
o Regular one to one meetings; weekly and monthly with direct reports
o Set objectives for direct reports and agree frequency of meetings
o In accordance with company policy ensure the appropriate support of HR representation is present and process followed for data capture
o Manage holidays within your department ensuring adequate cover is always available

  • Emergency First Aid at Work
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Commercial Awareness
  • 3 Years’ Experience supervising street works/ highways
  • SPEN Contract Experience – Not essential but preferable
