Allen & York are exclusively working on behalf of Wood International Agency Ltd, a leading specialist in the sales, distribution, logistics and marketing of Plywood and wood based panel products to the UK and Global Markets. We are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Environmental and Forestry position offering an opportunity to gain valuable experience in an influential and important role.

Wood International Agency are seeking an individual with a real passion for sustainable forest management to join their compliance team. Based in Brentwood Essex, you will be joining on a permanent basis in the role of Compliance Manager.

Wood International Agency Ltd holds a prominent position within the global panel products industry, this is your chance to be a part of it. In this role it will be your remit to further develop the compliance procedures at Wood International. The company prides itself on being market leaders in terms of supply chain scrutiny and due diligence, you will continue to build on this reputation ensuring that clients receive ever increasing high levels of detail on legality of supply chain with the goal of setting a benchmark within the industry for others to follow.

You will draw on your knowledge of the forestry and timber sectors, along with your extensive understanding of the European Union Timber Regulations (EUTR) to ensure continued compliance for the company. Ideally you will hold a relevant BSc (MSc would be an advantage), perhaps in Forestry or Environmental Management.

The successful candidate will help drive environmental improvements across the company. You will; work closely with staff across the business, engage with the suppliers, customers, NGOs and governments.

As the Compliance Manager you will be responsible for working with EUTR/UKTR along with Origin and Legality of Timber certification (OLB), Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade Licenses (FLEGT), Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forestry Certification (PEFC).

The successful applicant will have practical knowledge of working in a similar role and be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the Forestry and Timber related specialist bodies and regulations. As the Compliance Manager you will work to ensure all traded goods are UK/CE marked and work with others on purchasing governance, while ensuring all processes comply with the UK Timber Regulation, Construction Products Regulation and the Modern Slavery Act.

This role will require you to work closely with different members of the wider business to ensure compliance is successfully incorporated into company procedures. You will also act as the Chain of Custody Manager, ensuring compliance across company (FSC, PEFC and generic chain of custody) along with maintaining a robust due diligence system to ensure compliance with the EU/UK Timber Regulation, including assessing and auditing suppliers, and coordinating with external service providers

Drawing on your experience, rigorous attention to detail and your ability to effectively communicate, your passion and analytical approach to sustainable forest management will shine through, this will aid you greatly when reviewing different source data to assess potential risks to compliance and the supply chain.

Ideally you will hold a full clean driving licence as occasional national and international travel will be required as part of this role.
