Environmental Consultant - Birmingham

A new exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Consultant. You will be required to work on a range of projects and bids and be flexible to work across the range of disciplines that currently form the Environmental Assessment team assisting with coordination, provision of environmental advice and impact assessment.

As the Environmental Consultant you will lead the development of mitigation proposals. There is a generous salary and extensive benefits package on offer.

You will be involved in some of the UK's most complex and stimulating projects that are diverse and technically demanding including Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, energy, infrastructure and residential developments. You will be part of the wider UK Environmental Planning team, which undertakes a broad range of environmental assessment projects, including environmental impact assessments, strategic environmental assessments, construction management and other environmental advice, for a mixture of private and public-sector clients.


  • Assist with the coordination of technical specialists
  • Development of mitigation proposals with the design team
  • Assist with the EIA of design changes emerging from the design team
  • Identification of consents/licences and assist with the preparation of supporting materials
  • Assist with provision of sustainability services including carbon foot printing and BREEAM assessments
  • Assist the Environment team to develop project plans and charters for communication to the wider team and specialist disciplines
  • Develop and maintain a register of communications and stakeholder engagement


  • Relevant first degree
  • Awareness of environmental mitigation and methods to reduce construction impact
  • Experience of working in consultancy or a comparable role in a contractor organisation
  • Working knowledge of EIA and associated consenting regimes
  • Experience of inputting to Environmental Appraisals, ES and Sustainability Appraisals
  • Experience in working with teams on stakeholder management, including preparing responses to requests, developing publicity materials and information papers
  • Great communication and team working skills
  • Ability to work independently or within a client office
  • Full driving licence


  • Knowledge and experience of GIS and BIM
  • Knowledge and application experience of sustainability and carbon foot printing
  • Knowledge and experience of ecological management and mitigation
  • A second degree in relevant field
  • Graduate / Associate Member of IEMA/IES/CEnv
  • First Aider
  • CSCS card holder
