Our client is a multi-utility solutions provider. They are recruiting an Estimator to join an established team. Your role will involve you being responsible for ensuring you meet the technical specifications required for projects whilst optimising business margins and reputation.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Work with the Design teams to accurately cost off-site and other contractor works, advising on any specialised traffic management and other non-standard issues
  • Liaise with Design teams on tender invites as required
  • Survey route, carrying out on and off site inspections to identify any commercial risks or factors that may cause a reduction in productivity
  • Produce estimates of labour, material, plant and equipment as required for projects
  • Collate a risk register to identify any additional cost that may be incurred and produce a list of caveats/contingencies in order to reduce such risks
  • With the assistance of the Quantity Surveyor, compare contractor rates and apply them to our rates
  • Work with the Quantity Surveyor in monitoring the productivity of construction and assist with variations where required
  • In conjunction with the Quantity Surveyor, source and create special non-standard pricing with project partners and maintain a central cost database for use in producing accurate cost data and estimates

Minimum Requirements

  • HNC or equivalent in Building Studies/Building Construction
  • Experience of operating in a similar role with an understanding of new NRSWA and a knowledge of the regulatory requirements in laying multi-utilities 
  • IT literate with advanced experience of Excel and Word and a working knowledge of other software including databases
  • High level of numeracy with experience in building up rates from first principles 
  • Ability to collate, analyse and present data from various different sources maintaining attention to detail
  • Working knowledge and understanding of pricing multi-utility works and productivity levels across the various disciplines
  • Good knowledge and understanding of design drawings
