Allen & York has been engaged by one of the largest Development Finance Institution's to help them secure a Senior Manager to lead their Gender Equality & Women's Economic Empowerment Team based in London. This is a maternity cover role for a fixed period of 12 months, starting in August ideally in order to ensure a comprehensive handover.
A relatively new but highly important part of their organisation, the GE and WEE Team work closely with internal Departments to ensure that gender factors are considered in all investment decisions, which are predominantly in Asia and Africa but do extend to other continents as well. The Team set up processes, provide training and support the business from a technical perspective.


Due to the recent formation of the Team, you will be a strong and proven people manager, capable of continuing the implementation of the strategy so experience of having done this in a previous role will be advantageous.
In addition to this, the role of Gender Lead is largely outward facing, contributing to new research, presenting at conferences, sitting on panels and driving best practice within the sector as well as briefing senior managers in the business for talks.


Whilst you will ideally have a strong technical background in gender issues and women's economic empowerment, the management skills are more important, ensuring the continuity of the strategy and the functioning and development of the Team, including scheduling of work and allocating of resources. You would however need experience having worked in the investment sector and/or private sector development as a strong commercial acumen is required.
Due to the current pandemic, you will begin the role working from home and managing the Team remotely…as such, your people/Team management skills will be required even more so.
