This role, Head of Standards, is responsible for the strategic development and delivery of the safety management framework and will act as the company's professional for operational safety, accountable for ensuring the quality of advice meets the required legislation and industry standards.
Key to this role will be the development of operational safety strategies, representation at formal investigations/inquiries and leading on an operational safety risk framework to improve risk management throughout the organisation.
To be successful in this role candidates must have experience working in the rail sector in a similar role and have a demonstrable track record of success of managing teams with leadership abilities. It is essential to have knowledge of Railway Group Standards and legislation and be able to apply these.
Critical skills will include strategic thinking, excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence and engage key stakeholders in the business whilst driving change and innovation. Candidates should have a strong rail background which has evolved through safety and probably an operational role such as train driver and it is likely that candidates will carry a NEBOSH Diploma.
