Lead Environmental Consultant
Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow (other options may be acceptable)
Due to continued growth, an exciting and interesting position has arisen for a Lead Environmental Consultant to support offering to the energy industry. Working as a key member of the busy Environmental and Social Impact Assessment team, you will provide support to a suite of offshore wind projects (conventional and floating wind) and to the wider renewables portfolio (tidal and wave). You may also use your skills to support the work in other areas (such as subsea cable and interconnectors) should the opportunity arise.
You will have a solid background of helping to consent such projects and an impressive knowledge of all associated legislation derived from your time in consultancy, regulator, stakeholder or developer. You will support clients through the full project life cycle (e.g. site selection, ESIA, post-consent). You will act as project manager across a range of jobs, taking the key client contact role on a day to day basis, and leading consultants within the team (and external sub-consultants) to deliver these projects on time and to budget. You will also work with the most senior staff to deliver larger and more complex scopes, preparing project documentation, attending workshops and undertaking impact assessments.
Experience in some or all of the following areas will be useful:
- ESIA and Environmental Statements;
- HRA studies and reports;
- Section 36 applications; and
- Marine and other licenses.
Where your technical ability excels in a particular area, you would be expected to act as, or quickly become, an internal Subject Matter Expert.
